Wood Truncated Octahedron model, one of the 13 Archimedes Solids

It has 8 hexagons, 6 squares, 24 vertices,¬†36 pieces of wood, each compound mitered tword the imaginary center point. I make them¬†9″ or 12″ tall & wood stained in cherrywood, walnut, ebony, or just a clear polyurethane on wood (shown). The lightest are best for classroom, because they show cross shadows on the back pieces batter than darker stain.
